Our marriage
began with laughter,
lust, hopes, plans
and the desire
to last until
death parted us.
It ended
with harsh words,
icy silences,
disdain, contempt
and flight.
Between the two
a lifetime leaked away.
Was it worth it?
This question,
and what went wrong,
will haunt me
to my death.
